Have you ever found yourself wanting something to happen right now, but it seems to take longer than expected?

Well, I sure have. We live in a world of instant gratification. Just take a quick look around and you’ll see fast food restaurants, drive-thru pharmacies, quick remedies for weight loss and the “quick draw McGraw” of news…the internet. Isn’t it amazing how addicted we are to instant things?

It really becomes prevalent when you have to wait in a checkout line at the grocery store and you realize just how impatient you are to get out of there; even if you don’t have anywhere else to go.

When time is of the essence and you have absolutely no understanding of what is happening; the most important thing you can do is have PATIENCE! It is certainly one of the hardest lessons to learn. Yet, it is one of the most crucial in your daily walk with God.

Here’s why…In James 1:2-4, God is very specific why we must learn patience.

“Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.  Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.  But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfectly and fully developed, lacking in nothing.”

In other words, God is telling us that we should rejoice in difficult situations, knowing that God tests our faith to bring out patience. During trials, all kinds of junk are brought to the surface. Things like anger, rebellion, self-pity, complaining and pride. It is so important to deal with this stuff so that God can take us to the next level.

So, let’s put it in a step-by-step process:

  1. Trials come and we face all the “icky” stuff
  2. This in turns helps us develop Patience
  3. Patience helps us develop Endurance
  4. Endurance creates a mature character
  5. A mature character brings us to absolutely nothing lacking within our lives.

Let’s face it…most of us have absolutely no clue what God is up to when He calls us. But one thing for certain is that He knows the end from the beginning. Ecclesiastes 7:8 reminds us, “Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patience in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.” And Galatians 6:9 tells us, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

So, I don’t know about you but the ending sure sounds better than the beginning. It doesn’t matter how long we have to wait, it is far more rewarding to wait on the Lord’s timing because His timing is perfect and the outcome will exceed all of our expectations.

Kicking the Habit

End of your ropeIf I asked everyone reading this message to raise their hand if they have ever tried to stop smoking, lose weight, or stop any other habit; how many of you would raise your hand? Now, how many of you would raise your hand if you tried everything possible to stop that habit, only to find yourself worse off than before?

My hand is still raised too. It’s only natural for us to try all the different products and programs on the market that is suppose to help us with kicking the habit. The only problem is that once we have tried everything and we have exhausted all of our efforts; we usually find ourselves going back to the very thing that we worked so hard to quit in the first place. Then we feel like a failure and we become so frustrated that we simply give up, thinking that it will never change.

But, I’m here to tell you there is one sure fire way to kick any habit that is creating havoc in your life and it will be the easiest thing you have ever done. Surrender!

“Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3)

What happens when YOU try to stop doing something on your own? You become focused on that issue. It becomes all about if I do this or if I do that. And before you know it, you’ve become consumed by the very thing you are trying to quit.

No matter what we try to do – no matter how strong your willpower – no matter how determined you are…things will not completely change unless you surrender it completely to God. Only your creator knows what is happening in your life. Only your creator knows if you have a thyroid problem, a vitamin deficiency, a health issue, or even a deeper pain that needs healing.

Without surrendering the habit to God, the Holy Spirit can not help or lead you to your specific solution. Nor would it be completely healed! Before we can enjoy any real victory, or experience any real change in our behavior, we must learn that only God can change us from the inside. Our focus needs to be on Him!

“Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on Him?” (Galatians 3:5)

God restores health

So, what habit do you need to break? Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and help you overcome the habit. Get into the WORD and see what God says about your situation. Once you start focusing on HIM, that pesky ol’ habit will begin to fade and you may not even recognize that you’re being healed! That’s how AWESOME GOD is!

God wants you healed! He wants you successful! He wants you happy every moment of every day! Let Him take control and heal you from the inside out! You have a wonderful life ahead of you! Just keep your focus on Him and He promises to give you the best of the best! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Today is going to be a great day!

Defeat Your Giants

Shield (2014_03_10 01_21_18 UTC)All believers are being attacked right now. It appears to be more than ever before. Whether it’s in their health, finances, family relationships, friendships, employment, or a vast list of other areas, or even a combination of many; we are all battling giants right now.

But did you know that your victory is closer than you think? Do you realize that when you are close to your turnaround and God’s blessings are coming towards you…warfare heats up.

Ephesians 6:12: For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Ephesians 6:11: Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

The closer your victory gets, the worse things are going to become. The devil is going to throw everything he can against you. Everything that bothers you will intensify. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. It’s just his way of trying to get you to give up and fail. He doesn’t want you to see God’s blessings. He doesn’t want to hear you recite God’s word. He doesn’t want you to be successful!

Let’s make the devil angry today!

  • When things go crazy…Pray!
  • When everything is going wrong…Trust and Believe in God!
  • When circumstances are overwhelming…Speak God’s Word over them!
  • When you see no way out…Speak to your giant mountain and proclaim victory in advance!

Stand your ground!

God’s Word is final. You may not see a way, but God has a way. It may not look like you’re winning right now, but you will. There is absolutely nothing impossible with God. He can turn any situation around in a blink of any eye. So get ready…your giants have already been defeated and your life is about to become bigger and better than ever before!

Deuteronomy 20:4: For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.

YOU WIN! THE VICTORY IS YOURS!

In The Midst Of Your Storm

Don't Give upOver this past year, like so many others, my family and I have been through some of the most difficult times we have ever faced. When my mom was diagnosed with colon cancer, we were shocked. Cancer does not run in our family so the question “why” kept surfacing in our minds.

When you’re faced with the unthinkable, your mind can play some terrible tricks. Thoughts of helplessness, anger, and fear can be so prevalent. The fear of the unknown can be debilitating and paralyzing.

You don’t understand why this is happening. You don’t understand where it is leading. You don’t know how you’re going to make it through. But somehow, some way, you go through the motions of the day. Somehow, some way, you find the courage to continue on.

From our experience, I can tell you we serve a HUGE, INCREDIBLE GOD! When we were tired and wanted to give up, God was there giving us strength. When we would cry ourselves to oblivion, God counted our tears. When we simply couldn’t go on, God’s love shined through.

Even in the midst of our difficulties, God touched many others through us. Sitting in waiting rooms for the next treatment, God would bring someone across our path that needed prayer. Many times that person was worse off than we were. Doctors and nurses were stunned as prayer meetings were taking place in their waiting and surgery rooms.

We may never know the “why” of a difficulty, but we can certainly know that God is Real and He cares. Throughout the entire ordeal, strangers were talking with us like they were old time friends, people were being prayed for, people were getting to know God in a personal way, and many people were being saved. God brought us the right doctors and nurses across our path. He brought answers when difficult decisions had to be made. There is simply not one area that God didn’t provide for.

In times like these, it is so easy to miss God moving through your life. It is so easy to miss the miracles along the way. But when you have a moment of rest, you will notice that God was always there. You will look back and notice just how many miracles He provided along the way.

With so many people going through difficult and stressful times, I wanted to SHOUT IT OUT that GOD LOVES YOU! HE WILL NEVER LEAVE OR FORSAKE YOU! In your worst of times, HE IS THERE!

Today, I can say that mom is officially CANCER FREE! She didn’t have to go through as many treatments as others did. She didn’t have as many side effects as other did. God worked many miracles in her life. It is Him and Him alone that brought her through this terrible time in her life.

We serve a HUGE GOD and there is absolutely nothing too hard for Him! Let Him work in your life today because I can promise you that He still works miracles. Don’t give up…pray up! See His mighty hand come to life within the midst of your storm! And somehow, some way…you will make it through. You will be VICTORIOUS in the end! God will see to it!
