Be You

Everyone of us has a purpose in the Kingdom of God. Whether you are called to be a teacher, writer, preacher, a bible study host, singer, scientist, doctor, janitor, a stay-at-home parent, an encourager, someone who smiles, or anything in between, we are all called according to His purpose. We may not know exactly what our calling is but we can rest assured that when God calls upon us, He will have already equipped us to become that special person for the Kingdom.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Each one of us is uniquely made. We are to be special and not like each other. Every single one of us are to become the person God wants us to be. Then together, we all uniquely fit into God’s bigger picture.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus
to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Just because we see someone excelling doesn’t mean we need to try to be like them. We were never to be like someone else. God has given you a special calling and a creative talent that no one else has. When we try to be like someone else, we are actually attempting to be something we are not called to be which only leads to failure and frustration.

Our purpose is the very meaning of our existence and a distinct impact on the world around us. It’s very easy to look at others and think they have what you want, they are making a difference when you feel you don’t, they have a life you would like, they look how you wish you looked, and the list goes on. Never feel like your life doesn’t matter because it does. Say it with me, “MY LIFE MATTERS!”

Whether you realize it or not, your life is making an impact. People are always comparing themselves and watching from a distance. How you react to situations, what you say, how you say it, what you do…all these things impact those around you. Each one of us have a meaningful mission in life. Be yourself and let God’s mighty hand work within you. Be your unique you. There is no other person like you. There is no other person who can do the special mission God has just for you. Reach out and know your maker. He will guide you, help you and lead you on the path only you can take.

Be strong and press on. God’s plans and ways are higher than we can ever imagine. Everything you have gone through will not go to waste. Your testimony of God’s goodness, favor, restoration and healing power just might be the very thing that touches someone’s life and lead them to the one and only true God. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Don’t give up now, you are closer to your breakthrough than you think. The smallest acts of kindness can make a huge impact. YOU ARE SPECIAL AND YOUR LIFE MATTERS!

Continuous Journey

Thank youAs you began to step out, the path was difficult.  Unsure of where it was leading or if you were making a difference.  When you take time to reflect on where you used to be to where you are now; can you see the changes that have occurred since you began your journey with Christ?

Some changes are subtle.  Some much larger.  When you first started your journey, how did you act?  Were you rebellious?  A partier? A worry wart?  Obnoxious?  Self indulgent?  Chasing money and status?  Living promiscuously?

Living the world’s way always looked like fun.  People wanted to hang out with you because you were the life of the party.  Friends gathered to drink the night away. But what happened when you became a follower of Christ?  Did everything change?  Did people drop out of your life because they didn’t understand?  Did people look at you differently?

As you continue your journey, don’t fret what you might have lost.  Don’t worry about how people judge you from your past.  You are a new creation in Christ; worthy of His righteousness, glory, and honor. (2 Cor. 5:17)  Individuals that belong in your life will remain while others need to be let go.  What we need to realize is that unless they have an encounter with Christ themselves, they will not understand what you have experienced.  They will not understand how you can be peaceful, content, and forgiving; while they still struggle with past issues.

There are so many wonderful things to learn along the way.  It is a continuous journey that changes you from deep within until it starts to overflow into other people’s lives.  Embrace the changes.  Be empowered to be different.  For those who knew you back then, may eventually notice the difference.  And, who knows…they may come to Christ after seeing the tremendous things God does in your life.

Enjoy the Journey

I pray that the Holy Spirit continuously changes you; becoming deeply rooted in Christ.  There is nothing better than His love that exudes from the pores of your body. Being changed by His mighty hands is more powerful than anything the “world” holds.

So embrace your truth and your incredible purpose; for God has an amazing journey made specifically for you.  Be bold, brave, and beautiful for your life’s journey with Christ will be the greatest encounter of love you could ever imagine. Your past doesn’t define you, God does!

You’re Amazing

With a new year upon us, let this year be different. Don’t make your “to do” lists only to begin feeling overwhelmed and frustrated because you ate a donut. See yourself differently this year and place God first in your life. Let Him help you make whatever changes He feels is in your best interests.

specialYou are very special to God. He sees you as worthy through the blood of the lamb. You are a winner. You are amazing and beautiful. You are unique and special. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14) You are the apple of His eye. (Psalm 17:8) You are His treasured possession. (Deut. 7:6)

It’s time to stop comparing yourself to others or looking in the mirror wishing this or that was different. It’s time for you to see yourself through God’s eyes. You are His walking masterpiece, a rare find that is filled with His amazing light and love. There is nothing you can’t do as you keep your eyes upon the Lord. He doesn’t want you feeling defeated, He wants you soaring like an eagle with your talents He gave you.

Don’t let another year go by without seeing His love for you. Let go of your past pain, hurt, anger, frustration, rejection and suffering. Let go of all the things you’d like to change about yourself. You are wonderfully made and there’s noone like you. You have special gifts that God has placed inside of you. He wants to burst forth those gifts and see you excel like never before.

God can and will restore all of those things that have been lost and change whatever needs to change. (Joel 2:25) Let this year be your amazing turnaround. Let this year be filled with lots of light and love. Give Him your cares and worries. Don’t let one more day hold you down with defeat or self-worthlessness. You are an amazing person. So be bold, confident, brave, and free!

Reflect on His love for you and everything else will turn out alright. You’re loved beyond your wildest imagination and there’s nothing too difficult for your Heavenly Father. He is right there with you in the midst of any battle or storm. Reach out and see how beautiful you truly are! It’s time to shine and let your amazing gifts burst forth! May this year be your year of transformation and restoration.  You will accomplish more in a day than you thought possible.

Receive it! Believe it! And walk in it!

Enemies Don’t Stand A Chance

abuse-clipart-verbalabuseWhen people mistreat you, what’s the first thing you do? If we’re honest with ourselves, most of us immediately get angry and want revenge. Anger tends to linger until you are so full of rage that the situation is the only thing you can think about. If festering is allowed, it will affect your mind, thoughts, and temperament. This in turn, could easily lead to depression and sickness.

If we allow anger to fester, it is giving the person total control over your life. They don’t deserve that control and you don’t deserve the pain and suffering they’ve caused. So, how do we turn these situations around?

I know most people are going to cringe when I say this…but…PRAY FOR YOUR ENEMY! I know, I know, I know…how dare I say that, right?!?!?

We all have things happen that we don’t understand or things that make us so angry where you just want to punch them out. And yes, that’s not very Christian to think but hey, we are human and there are many times in our lives that we either think or feel un-Christianly. Let’s get real, we are human and those are human traits. Even Jesus got angry in the temple and against heresy. Having those feelings are normal. However, how we react to the feelings determines your future path. Do you give into those feelings or do you follow God’s way of doing things? Now that is the real question, isn’t it?

As we discussed previously, we will encounter trials in this world. We will come up against evil in the craziest of times. That is a part of life. But God gives us such a profound outlook as to how we are to deal with the pain and anger. Let’s see…

Matthew 5:43-45: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.…”

Romans 12:19-21: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

From these passages, you get a real feel for what God says. He tells us to love and pray for our enemies. He knows that isn’t the typical humanly response. So why does He tell us to do it? Because He wants to take care of it for you. He wants us to focus on Him and not the unfair situation. PERIOD!!!!

See, our true battle isn’t the situation or the person. Our true battle lies in how we react to the unfair situation and what we will focus upon. We must strive to keep our eyes on the Lord at all times. If we can do that, then it gives God free reign to help us in all situations. So today, I ask that you begin praying and doing good towards your enemies and watch God resolve the issues into your favor!
