Bye Bye Frustration

Never aloneIn a world of instant gratification, we all want things NOW. Fast Food, drive-thru ATM machines, swiping credit cards, microwaveable meals; all designed to give us things quickly.

But what happens when you have to stand in a line at the supermarket, wait in a traffic jam, hurry up to wait? Do you feel yourself get frustrated? Do you sense anger? Do you find yourself agitated? Do you find yourself tapping your fingers? You know when you push the coffee button and you find yourself tapping your fingers on the counter top, saying; “Come on already!”

I bet you can see yourself when you read those questions. So, what should we do when we find ourselves in these situations?

We are given a tremendous illustration in John 11:3-7.

3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.”
4 But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness is not unto death; it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Laz’arus.
6 So when he heard that he was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
7 Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go into Judea again.”

Jesus was told that Lazarus was sick. Instead of rushing to his side, Jesus stayed where He was for two more days. In the same passage, we are told that Jesus loved Martha, her sister, and Lazarus. What can be derived from all of this?

When things are delayed or don’t happen when we want them; we tend to get frustrated, depressed, or angered. A lot of times, we find ourselves wishing and praying for our break through, healing, restoration; only to find the answer not forthcoming. What we need to realize is that God doesn’t work on our time frame. He knows the exact time, the exact way, and the perfect solution. In the passage mentioned, Jesus let us know that we are loved. He let us know that He had the answer. He let us know that the reason for the delay was to honor God and to promote His glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

So, the next time you find yourself waiting for God’s intervention, help, healing power, or answer… BREATHE DEEPLY, RELAX, and say BYE BYE to the frustration. Don’t see a delay as a set back…see the delay as a set up! KNOW THAT HE WILL PROVIDE YOU with what you need, at the exact moment you need it. God just might be using the situation to give you a better revelation in Him; so that when it does happen, there will be absolutely no question that HE did it! You will become an even greater testimony with your incredible story of God’s awesome power!

Tear Down the Walls

Saved by GraceWhen you make a mistake, do you find yourself mulling it over and over in your mind?  As you continue to think about it, you start to feel sick in your stomach, your body starts to ache, and you just can’t seem to think about anything else.  It continues to fester until you find it affecting your mood and no one wants to be around you because you snap at them.  And then, you find yourself in a funk that you can’t seem to get out of.

Truth be told, we all find ourselves in situations like these.  Maybe you did something that hurt someone or you were mistreated by someone you trusted.  There are many reasons why we can feel guilt, anger, bitterness, and frustration.  Our walls come in many different shapes and sizes.  And, what makes it worse is that it seems to be easier than letting go.  It is almost like we would rather hold onto the feelings of pain and sorrow because then we can feel justified. You know the old saying, “an eye for an eye”.  It is like we hold onto the guilt to justify our pain or we hold onto the anger because it somehow gets back at the person who hurt us.

We are all far from perfect and we are bound to make mistakes.  However, we don’t have to feel guilty, angry, or bitter towards ourselves or anyone else.  If we ever want to experience a breakthrough, we must tear down the walls in our thinking.

Wrong thoughts lead to wrong actions…

RIGHT THOUGHTS lead to RIGHT ACTIONS. (Eph. 4:22-24)

See, the devil’s plan is to hold you in the guilt, anger, and frustration.  He knows that if he can keep you thinking on the pain, you can’t let go of it.  Therefore, you find yourself deeper and deeper in the pit; feeling desperate and overwhelmed.  The perfect breeding ground for Satan and his cronies.

However, God wants you free from all of it.  And better yet, He wants to help.  So, why don’t you start getting your Work in Progressthoughts lined up with God’s word.  If you feel anger boiling up inside, ask God to replace it with His peace.  If a thought comes into your mind telling you that God can’t love you because you messed up too badly, tell Satan to take a flying leap because there is nothing you can do to take God’s love away from you.  Not now or ever!

Just remember, be gentle with yourself and others.  We are all “works in progress” and it is a step-by-step journey that we embark upon. No matter what mistakes you’ve made, God loves you this very moment and is willing to help you.  He will free you from the past and make your future far better than you can imagine!  So DREAM BIG because He has some AMAZING THINGS PLANNED FOR YOU!

Love and Compassion Prevailed

Horrific tragedies rocked our world this week.  Pictures touched the hearts of millions.  The innocent victims and all those that witnessed the horror of these events were shocked to the very core.  People from around the the world enjoying a beautiful, sunny day in Boston and Texans living out their every day lives; when explosions, instantly, changed their world.  These horrific events tend to remind us of just how precious and fragile life is.

Love and CompassionYet, in the midst of the chaos and horror; the glimmers of hope, love and compassion grew beyond measure.  Not just the first responders, but, the masses of average, everyday people who immediately reacted to those in need, without a thought for themselves nor the danger surrounding them. In a split second decision, TRUE HEROES took action filled with love, hope, compassion, and encouragement to lift up the spirits of those hurt and in despair.

During these dark hours, we all go through a massive chain of emotions.  Shock, disbelief, frustration, anger, fear, and sadness soar through our minds, body, and soul.  It is imperative that we see the love and compassion of all individuals who rushed to help.  To see their heroic efforts to help their fellow-man.  We may not understand why these things happen.  However, in the midst of these tragedies, there are many who showed that love, compassion, and hope prevails above all else. In a blink of an eye, strangers can come together for the greater good.

In the coming days, I ask that we all take a few more moments to hold our families a little bit tighter.  Let those around us know how much we love them.  And, pray for God’s healing to rush upon those touched by these horrific events.  It is times like these that we need to remember “He who lives within us is greater than he who is in this world” (1 John 4:4) and there is nothing more precious than love for our fellow-man.
