Solid Rock

We sure can give the devil alot of air time. When anything happens that we don’t like, we quickly say the devil did it. The devil gave me a flat tire, the devil gave me the flu, the devil made that person treat me badly or walk away.

What if it was God who made it happen? Now I know what you must be thinking…
“God would never do such a thing.”
“God would never allow something bad to happen.”
“God would never allow someone to treat us wrong or walk away.”

But guess what, His word says He does.
Haggai 1:9 “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.”

God allows certain things to happen in our lives so we won’t blow it. It’s not to punish you or get back at you…it’s to protect you. If He allows us to depend on ourselves or others, we can easily get too attached to it and forget that He is our source.

He created us. He breathed life into us. He gave us our gifts. He gave us our professions. He gave us family. He gave us friends. He gave us the funds. He owns it all but He has freely given to us and we need to make sure we keep our eyes fixed on Him and not our things.

When God sees us building our house on sinking sand and not His strong foundation, He might step in to rattle our lives a bit to help us refocus and return to Him. He would rather see us go through a season of frustration than to build our lives on the wrong foundation. That’s how awesome and loving our Father is!

He wants each of us to be significant and sometimes the only way to do that is shake us up a bit to get us back onto the right path. Don’t let the would of, could of, should of, fixing too thoughts wane you from God. We all have plans in motion and the plan might be God’s plan for our lives. But if we take our focus off Him and start believing in ourselves, the plan, our works, our friends/family, our money or anything else more than God Himself, then you can definitely expect a shake up to come.

Don’t forget who is the plan master, the provider, the distributor and the opportunity maker. Build your house on His strong foundation; making Him your first priority every single day and in everything you do, then you don’t have to worry, stress or fear about what the day brings.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Be You

Everyone of us has a purpose in the Kingdom of God. Whether you are called to be a teacher, writer, preacher, a bible study host, singer, scientist, doctor, janitor, a stay-at-home parent, an encourager, someone who smiles, or anything in between, we are all called according to His purpose. We may not know exactly what our calling is but we can rest assured that when God calls upon us, He will have already equipped us to become that special person for the Kingdom.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord,
plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Each one of us is uniquely made. We are to be special and not like each other. Every single one of us are to become the person God wants us to be. Then together, we all uniquely fit into God’s bigger picture.

Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus
to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Just because we see someone excelling doesn’t mean we need to try to be like them. We were never to be like someone else. God has given you a special calling and a creative talent that no one else has. When we try to be like someone else, we are actually attempting to be something we are not called to be which only leads to failure and frustration.

Our purpose is the very meaning of our existence and a distinct impact on the world around us. It’s very easy to look at others and think they have what you want, they are making a difference when you feel you don’t, they have a life you would like, they look how you wish you looked, and the list goes on. Never feel like your life doesn’t matter because it does. Say it with me, “MY LIFE MATTERS!”

Whether you realize it or not, your life is making an impact. People are always comparing themselves and watching from a distance. How you react to situations, what you say, how you say it, what you do…all these things impact those around you. Each one of us have a meaningful mission in life. Be yourself and let God’s mighty hand work within you. Be your unique you. There is no other person like you. There is no other person who can do the special mission God has just for you. Reach out and know your maker. He will guide you, help you and lead you on the path only you can take.

Be strong and press on. God’s plans and ways are higher than we can ever imagine. Everything you have gone through will not go to waste. Your testimony of God’s goodness, favor, restoration and healing power just might be the very thing that touches someone’s life and lead them to the one and only true God. As it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Don’t give up now, you are closer to your breakthrough than you think. The smallest acts of kindness can make a huge impact. YOU ARE SPECIAL AND YOUR LIFE MATTERS!

Words Hurt

Broken Heart (2014_03_10 01_21_18 UTC)Have you ever been called dumb, stupid or maybe even an idiot? Maybe you’ve been told that you’ll never amount too much. Words can definitely impact your life. Just as positive things spoken about you can impact the way you see yourself, so can negative connotations.

You may find yourself living in difficult situations where frustration is the norm. You might be living in extreme poverty. You could even be struggling with finding employment, losing your home, struggling with addictions/health issues or having family strife. However, know that this does not define you!

See the thing is, as you walk towards God’s will in your life, things may not look good to those around you. You may even find yourself being the joke of those closest to you. But what you need to realize is that they simply don’t get it. They feel you need to live like they live. They want you doing things like they do. They want you to be like them.

Even though you may care about those around you, the hardest and most difficult thing to do is to follow God’s path for your life. Whether it makes sense to others or not, God has a specific purpose for your life. He knows exactly what He is doing and what you need to do in order to complete it. People are not always going to understand why you are doing what you are doing. They only can think about making money, buying material things, looking like the rest of the world. But we are not of this world. We may live in it but we are not of it. As a follower of Christ, we are called to be the light of the world.

During times like these, it is extremely important to remember who you are in Christ. As Isaiah 11:2 says:

“And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”

When your life looks absolutely crazy and unbearable to others; sometimes even to ourselves…we must remember that God has a plan for us. While others are calling you stupid or dumb, what really matters is that you have the wisdom of God. One small touch of God’s grace in your life will make all your naysayers ask what the heck is going on.

God is the way, the truth, and the life. When He calls you for a specific purpose, it won’t matter what anyone else thinks. God is the alpha and omega; He knows the end from the beginning. So there is absolutely nothing that can happen to you without His knowledge. It is His knowledge, His grace, His love, His peace, His protection and His provision that will leave the rest wanting to know what you already know. This is true wisdom.

Don't Give up

So while others have their fun at your expense, don’t let it bother you. For when God’s amazing grace comes rushing upon you in His perfect time…He will open the right doors, the right opportunities, and the right people to come upon your life that will leave everyone else around you with their mouths wide open in shock!

SO…GET READY FOR THE LORD ALMIGHTY’S

HAND TO COME UPON YOU!

He promises that it will be beyond anything you can ask or think! Praise the Lord for He Is Worthy to be praised!

Bye Bye Frustration

Never aloneIn a world of instant gratification, we all want things NOW. Fast Food, drive-thru ATM machines, swiping credit cards, microwaveable meals; all designed to give us things quickly.

But what happens when you have to stand in a line at the supermarket, wait in a traffic jam, hurry up to wait? Do you feel yourself get frustrated? Do you sense anger? Do you find yourself agitated? Do you find yourself tapping your fingers? You know when you push the coffee button and you find yourself tapping your fingers on the counter top, saying; “Come on already!”

I bet you can see yourself when you read those questions. So, what should we do when we find ourselves in these situations?

We are given a tremendous illustration in John 11:3-7.

3 So the sisters sent to him, saying, “Lord, he whom you love is ill.”
4 But when Jesus heard it he said, “This illness is not unto death; it is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by means of it.”
5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Laz’arus.
6 So when he heard that he was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
7 Then after this he said to the disciples, “Let us go into Judea again.”

Jesus was told that Lazarus was sick. Instead of rushing to his side, Jesus stayed where He was for two more days. In the same passage, we are told that Jesus loved Martha, her sister, and Lazarus. What can be derived from all of this?

When things are delayed or don’t happen when we want them; we tend to get frustrated, depressed, or angered. A lot of times, we find ourselves wishing and praying for our break through, healing, restoration; only to find the answer not forthcoming. What we need to realize is that God doesn’t work on our time frame. He knows the exact time, the exact way, and the perfect solution. In the passage mentioned, Jesus let us know that we are loved. He let us know that He had the answer. He let us know that the reason for the delay was to honor God and to promote His glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.

So, the next time you find yourself waiting for God’s intervention, help, healing power, or answer… BREATHE DEEPLY, RELAX, and say BYE BYE to the frustration. Don’t see a delay as a set back…see the delay as a set up! KNOW THAT HE WILL PROVIDE YOU with what you need, at the exact moment you need it. God just might be using the situation to give you a better revelation in Him; so that when it does happen, there will be absolutely no question that HE did it! You will become an even greater testimony with your incredible story of God’s awesome power!
