Don’t Let Go

Do you remember the story of Jacob? He was a man whose very name meant “deceiver” and “grabber”. You could say Jacob was a con artist, a liar, and a manipulator. Everything he did was by trickery of some sort. He lived his life relying on himself and things. He found his life filled with struggles, fears, fleeing and pure exhaustion.

Can you relate to Jacob’s story? Is your life filled with anxiety, stress, worry, sickness, and struggles? Are you trying to find the answers by yourself? Are you trying to use your resources which aren’t enough? Are you finding yourself battling the enemy that comes to steal, kill and destroy? Are you losing your grip and feeling defeated?

Change course! Jesus defeated everything that could come against you. He came to give you life and life more abundantly. And you can be victorious. (John 10:10)

Think of Jacob’s situation. He had fled his father-in-law for all the wrongdoing he did towards Jacob only to find himself having to face his brother Esau who had vowed to kill him. He was in a no win situation and his first instinct was to run again. However, God had a different plan. It was time for Jacob to face his fears and stand his ground.

Jacob sent all of his possessions and family across the ford of Jabbok which left him all alone. He ended up wrestling with a man till daybreak. All night long, he wrestled until the man saw he could not overpower him. Jacob was holding on for dear life. He was determined not to let go until the man blessed him. In the end, Jacob received his blessing in the morning and realized he had come face to face with God Himself! (Genesis 32:26-30)

What are you struggling with? What are your fears? What is coming against you?

Keep fighting the good fight of faith. Keep speaking God’s word over you and your family. Keep believing that God will turn your circumstances around. Keep talking with God about your fears and desires. Just don’t let go of God! He is your source and you are extremely close to your breakthrough! Blessings are on their way! Your current circumstances are being turned upside down! He will make a way when you don’t see one. He will give you double for your trouble.

Just like Jacob, God will see you holding on and will realize you are not willing to let go until He releases blessings into your life!

Are you ready for more than enough? Are you ready for God to touch every area of your life? Stand your ground and Don’t let go of Him!

Impossibilities Made Possible

Do you recall the story of Job in the Bible? He had everything. A wonderful wife, children, health, family, support of friends, and wealth. He was the head and not the tail, the lender not the borrower, a leader that was looked to for wisdom and knowledge. He was respected by his community. He was a righteous man that stood with God who was blameless and upright.

“But one day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan (the adversary and accuser) also came among them. And the Lord said to Satan, From where did you come? Then Satan answered the Lord, From going to and from on the earth and from walking up and down on it. And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns evil [because it is wrong]? Then Satan answered the Lord, Does Job [reverently] fear God for nothing? Have You not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have conferred prosperity and happiness upon him in the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face. And the Lord said to Satan, Behold all that he has is in your power, only upon the man himself put not forth the hand. So Satan went forth from the present of the Lord.” (Job 1:6-12)

Then all of a sudden, Job found himself losing everything. Satan stole all of Job’s oxen and donkeys, slayed his servants, burned the sheep and servants attending the sheep, raided his camels and slayed those servants attending his camels and killed all of his children too. To make things even worse, his wife cursed Job and told him to die and his loyal friends came to console him while accusing him of wrongdoing. Just when you think it couldn’t get worse for Job, it did. Satan smote Job with loathsome and painful sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. (Job 2:7) Everything was gone in a day.

As you read Job, he goes through the various emotions that we would all feel; anger, pain, sadness, depression, weakness, and the feelings of being lost. He even gets to the point of wondering why he was even born and that it would have been better if he had never lived. He started wondering why his so-called loyal friends turned against him in his desperate need of their comfort.

By this time, most people would have started cursing the Lord and directing their pain and anger towards Him. They would have started questioning everything they know about the Lord and wondered what did they do wrong to deserve all of this excruciating pain. The “Why God Why” syndrome. However Job did just the opposite and said “Shall we accept [only] good at the hand of God and shall we not accept [also] misfortune…? (Job 2:9-10) Verse 10 actually continues to say Job did not sin with his lips. That’s an amazing statement when all chaos surrounded him.

We have an adversary. One who is trying to kill and destroy us. (John 10:10) One who is trying to make us give up and curse the Lord for our misfortunes.

What has Satan done to you lately? Have you found yourself losing your possessions, your health, your friends and family, your employment, or anything else that means something to you?

Don’t give up. Don’t let go of God. Don’t let Satan rob you of your Heavenly Father! Because you can be like Job in whatever circumstance you find yourself in. Keep talking and giving your cares, pain, suffering, and anger to God. He will fill you with strength, courage, and wisdom. Job kept his faith strong and found that it wasn’t the end for him. He repented for the things he said during his grief and even forgave his misguided friends. By standing with God through it all, he found himself restored far greater than he was originally. God rewarded him double for his trouble. (Job 42:10-13)

Today I wish to encourage you to keep standing and believing that God is working everything out for your good and He still has a good plan for your life. He will make the impossibles possible. There is nothing Satan can do to you that God won’t work out for your benefit. Let go of the pain, suffering, anger, hatred, sadness, and lack; and let God be your strength. For you may look defeated right now, but you will end up with double for your trouble. God says it, so it will be done!

Expect The Best

positive1James 1:6: “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

During a recent conversation, someone mentioned the old classic saying “expect the worst and hope for the best”. Do you ever find yourself thinking that way too?

Now I completely understand why people like to use this phrase because it helps them make sure they have numerous plans if something starts faltering in unexpected ways. But I still really dislike the statement because I feel it goes against everything us Christians stand for and really places us out of God’s alignment. Here’s why…

When you’re planning for the worse to happen, it places you in a very difficult situation. Planning contingencies is going to make your faith waver because you have already put it in your mind that something is going to go wrong. Expectation is a form of your faith. So by placing the thought that something is going to go haywire or terribly wrong, then that is exactly what’s going to happen and you’ll put more time and effort into making backup plans than holding on to God’s word that everything will work out by His love and grace.

Fear and doubt will always creep in when you are believing for something amazing to happen in your life. You will have to choose if you will allow the fear and doubt to mull through your mind or to believe that God wants the best for you and He will make it happen.

There’s never a day that goes by when some fleck of doubt won’t try to bombard your thoughts. There’s never a day that goes by when fear won’t try to take hold. Don’t let it toss you like a wave of the sea. Instead, rebuke the fear and doubt and put it in it’s rightful place…in Jesus’ hands. That’s why we are told that no weapon formed against us will prosper. (Isaiah 54:17)

Don’t let the enemy get the best of you. Keep standing on God’s word. Keep holding onto your faith. For when you do, God’s supernatural will touch your natural and only good things will happen for you and your family. Don’t let another day go by before you learn to hold to the truth and let it set you free! God is always ready, willing, and able. Let Him be your source and know that everything will be alright!

Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
