We sure can give the devil alot of air time. When anything happens that we don’t like, we quickly say the devil did it. The devil gave me a flat tire, the devil gave me the flu, the devil made that person treat me badly or walk away.
What if it was God who made it happen? Now I know what you must be thinking…
“God would never do such a thing.”
“God would never allow something bad to happen.”
“God would never allow someone to treat us wrong or walk away.”
But guess what, His word says He does.
Haggai 1:9 “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house.”
God allows certain things to happen in our lives so we won’t blow it. It’s not to punish you or get back at you…it’s to protect you. If He allows us to depend on ourselves or others, we can easily get too attached to it and forget that He is our source.
He created us. He breathed life into us. He gave us our gifts. He gave us our professions. He gave us family. He gave us friends. He gave us the funds. He owns it all but He has freely given to us and we need to make sure we keep our eyes fixed on Him and not our things.
When God sees us building our house on sinking sand and not His strong foundation, He might step in to rattle our lives a bit to help us refocus and return to Him. He would rather see us go through a season of frustration than to build our lives on the wrong foundation. That’s how awesome and loving our Father is!
He wants each of us to be significant and sometimes the only way to do that is shake us up a bit to get us back onto the right path. Don’t let the would of, could of, should of, fixing too thoughts wane you from God. We all have plans in motion and the plan might be God’s plan for our lives. But if we take our focus off Him and start believing in ourselves, the plan, our works, our friends/family, our money or anything else more than God Himself, then you can definitely expect a shake up to come.
Don’t forget who is the plan master, the provider, the distributor and the opportunity maker. Build your house on His strong foundation; making Him your first priority every single day and in everything you do, then you don’t have to worry, stress or fear about what the day brings.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Everyone of us has a purpose in the Kingdom of God. Whether you are called to be a teacher, writer, preacher, a bible study host, singer, scientist, doctor, janitor, a stay-at-home parent, an encourager, someone who smiles, or anything in between, we are all called according to His purpose. We may not know exactly what our calling is but we can rest assured that when God calls upon us, He will have already equipped us to become that special person for the Kingdom.
Our purpose is the very meaning of our existence and a distinct impact on the world around us. It’s very easy to look at others and think they have what you want, they are making a difference when you feel you don’t, they have a life you would like, they look how you wish you looked, and the list goes on. Never feel like your life doesn’t matter because it does. Say it with me, “MY LIFE MATTERS!”
Every day we are bombarded with thoughts. They can be either positive or negative. When we find ourselves drained of energy or circling the same issues over and over again, we are focusing on the wrong side of the equation and leaving God out of it.
