Kicking the Habit

End of your ropeIf I asked everyone reading this message to raise their hand if they have ever tried to stop smoking, lose weight, or stop any other habit; how many of you would raise your hand? Now, how many of you would raise your hand if you tried everything possible to stop that habit, only to find yourself worse off than before?

My hand is still raised too. It’s only natural for us to try all the different products and programs on the market that is suppose to help us with kicking the habit. The only problem is that once we have tried everything and we have exhausted all of our efforts; we usually find ourselves going back to the very thing that we worked so hard to quit in the first place. Then we feel like a failure and we become so frustrated that we simply give up, thinking that it will never change.

But, I’m here to tell you there is one sure fire way to kick any habit that is creating havoc in your life and it will be the easiest thing you have ever done. Surrender!

“Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?” (Galatians 3:3)

What happens when YOU try to stop doing something on your own? You become focused on that issue. It becomes all about if I do this or if I do that. And before you know it, you’ve become consumed by the very thing you are trying to quit.

No matter what we try to do – no matter how strong your willpower – no matter how determined you are…things will not completely change unless you surrender it completely to God. Only your creator knows what is happening in your life. Only your creator knows if you have a thyroid problem, a vitamin deficiency, a health issue, or even a deeper pain that needs healing.

Without surrendering the habit to God, the Holy Spirit can not help or lead you to your specific solution. Nor would it be completely healed! Before we can enjoy any real victory, or experience any real change in our behavior, we must learn that only God can change us from the inside. Our focus needs to be on Him!

“Then does He Who supplies you with His marvelous [Holy] Spirit and works powerfully and miraculously among you do so on [the grounds of your doing] or because of your believing in and adhering to and trusting in and relying on Him?” (Galatians 3:5)

God restores health

So, what habit do you need to break? Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and help you overcome the habit. Get into the WORD and see what God says about your situation. Once you start focusing on HIM, that pesky ol’ habit will begin to fade and you may not even recognize that you’re being healed! That’s how AWESOME GOD is!

God wants you healed! He wants you successful! He wants you happy every moment of every day! Let Him take control and heal you from the inside out! You have a wonderful life ahead of you! Just keep your focus on Him and He promises to give you the best of the best! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Today is going to be a great day!

Grab Hold Of Your Future

Let Go (2014_03_10 01_21_18 UTC)Life has a funny way of constantly reminding you of the things you’ve done wrong. You can be in the middle of a fantastic day, when out of nowhere, a reminder of your past comes along. As soon as it pops into your head, you have a choice to make. You can either mull it over and relive it, or you can ask for God’s forgiveness and release it to Him.

No matter who you are, where you came from, or what you’ve done…IT DOES NOT DEFINE YOU NOW! Your past is just that…your past. When you repented and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your past no longer exists and He sees your sins no more. (Hebrews 10:17) You don’t have to live in shame, guilt, anger, or regret. Thanks to Jesus’s finished work, you are a new creature in Christ and only the best days are ahead of you.

So the next time a little reminder comes along, stop it in its path. Release whatever it is to God and let Jesus’ rest come upon you. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. Let Him fill you with unspeakable peace that only He can provide. Accept His loving mercy and kindness today.

REPEAT AFTER ME:

Lord Jesus, thank you for loving me so much. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and making me a new creature. Today, I release all of my past hurts, anger, guilt, shame, and pain. Fill me with your amazing peace as I begin to step forward into the incredible life you have for me. Today, I will walk boldly and confidently knowing that my past is forgiven. Thank you for your mercy, grace, love and kindness. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.

Be A Doubt Buster Today

Breaking ChainesEver find yourself saying “I doubt that could happen” or “my circumstances will never change” or “it’s just the way it is”?

We all go through long periods in our lives when nothing seems to be going right. Whether you got a bad report from the doctor or you can’t pay your bills. Maybe your family is in strife or you can’t find a job. Maybe your body is being attacked.

Whatever you find yourself going through, it’s easy to think on the problem and complain about it constantly. Worse yet, if it’s been a long time with the same problem or many problems all at once, you can find yourself saying I guess I just need to get used to it and you accept defeat.

No! There are two ways to live our lives. One in the “doubting Thomas” mindset or one in the “all things are possible to those who believe” mindset. When we doubt, we are being double minded. God said he gave us the power to choose life or death; therefore choose life. (Deuteronomy 30:19-20) He also has made it quite clear that when we doubt, we are setting ourselves up for failure.

James 1:6-7: “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.”

God makes it quite clear that if we doubt than we should not expect anything from Him. Basically when we doubt, we are telling God that our problems are larger than He is. How do you think that must make God feel when He created everything thing in the world, including us?

So you must be wondering, now what can I do? We must become more childlike where we stop analyzing everything to death. Every time a doubting thought comes into your mind, immediately replace it with God’s word!

  • When you have a thought that the pain will never go away…say “by His stripes I am healed!
  • When you think my circumstances will never change…say “I am more than a conqueror through Christ!”
  • When your finances dry up and you have no way to pay the bills…say “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches and glory!”

Feed Your Faith

No matter what you see or feel, God knows every single piece of hair on your head. He counts your tears. There is absolutely nothing too hard for Him.

It may be taking longer than you would like and you are finding yourself frustrated; it’s okay…God completely understands. Ask Him for His forgiveness. AND FROM THIS DAY FORWARD…choose life and life more abundantly over every doubt, over every fear, over every pain. For God can not lie and all His promises will come to pass in your life if you will hold on tight and push the doubt away.

Let’s all become Doubt Busters today! You are not staying where you are right now…you have a tremendous life ahead of you and nothing, and I do mean nothing, can hold God’s promises back from being completed in your life! Stay in faith and know that everything will be alright!

The Hustle and Bustle

As Christmas comes closer with each passing day
Stop the shopping madness; see the season’s precious way
With all of its glitter and bright displays,
Just stop for a moment and let your heart show the way.

It’s easy to get stressed and begin to fray
Stop for a breather and remember His way
Rushing to and fro and all about
Stop for a moment to remember what it’s about.

It’s not about presents, trees or even mistletoe
It’s time to remember and forget all your woes
For in Matthew and Luke, it explains it all
The birth of our Lord the angels did call.

His name is Jesus and Emmanuel
Meaning God is with us so hear the beautiful bells
For our Lord was born on this amazing day
In a lowly ol’ manger and a very humble way.

For all to see the star was shining bright
So the wise men followed the incredible light
Filled with ecstatic joy and gifts to honor
For the Child was born for the Glory of the Father.

So, when you are spending time with your friends and family
Take a moment of pause from the intense vanity
For when you do, your heart will be overjoyed
For on this wonderful day, God gave us His Baby Boy!
